The Frustration (& Importance) of Delayed Gratification

I am not tech oriented by all means but I do know enough that I can figure things out. I love that we are living in a world where we can find out information at the touch of some clicks on our keyboard. We’ve come a long way with finding out information, doing research, and being able to learn new things.

However, this can also set us up in many ways. Since we can find things out at the snap of our fingers, our concept of delayed gratification has definitely decreased. We are living in a time when immediate gratification is easy to do and preferred. This can be troublesome if you are someone who is on the path of personal development and growth. You may be attempting to learn a new skill set or change your thought process on how you view yourself.  The steps that you take to do so take time. There are no quick results or immediate gratification. This can be very discouraging and lead to a lot of self-doubt and wondering if you are on the correct path or if you are “doing it right”.

Today I want to encourage you to stay the course and to keep moving forward. Continue doing the work you’ve been doing. It does takes time to build a new habit. It takes time to change our thought processes. It takes time for our brain synapses to make new connections and for us to be able to see and think of things differently. There’s no immediate gratification with this.

If this is an area that you struggle with or consumes you - and leads to your self sabotage, I invite you to schedule a discovery call with me to see if we would be a good fit to work together and what that would look like.

Keep taking care of you!
Denise
