Two Weeks After Parasailing 🪂

Ixtapa, Mexico.

A trip with a friend. The first time in a long time that I had gone somewhere just for me. No classes. No papers. No critical husband. No responsibilities. No one needing anything from me.

I went parasailing. (I was terrified to do so, but LOVED it!)

And somewhere up there, suspended over the water with nothing below me and nothing demanding my attention, something got quiet.

Not peaceful exactly. Just quiet.

The kind of quiet that only happens when you finally stop running long enough for the truth to catch up with you.

I did not make a decision that day.

I came home. I went back to my life. I went back to the noise and the routine and the weight of everything I had been carrying.

But two weeks later I filed for divorce.

Not impulsively. The knowing had been building for a long time. The trip did not create it.

It just gave me enough silence to finally hear it.

That is what the moment of decision actually looks like.

It does not always arrive with certainty. It does not always feel brave or clear or ready.

Sometimes it just feels like the noise finally stopped long enough for you to hear what you already knew.

And once you hear it you cannot unhear it.

I think about the women who are in that two week window right now.

The ones who had a moment of clarity and then went back to their lives and are sitting with something they cannot quite name yet.

Something that landed. Something that shifted. Something that has not become a decision yet but is moving in that direction.

You do not have to rush it.

But you also do not have to keep drowning it out.

When you are ready to finally listen to what you already know, I am here.
