This Holiday Week & You

Whether you celebrate Hanukkah (which began last night), Christmas (which is this Wednesday), or Kwanzaa (which begins this Thursday), this joyous week can also be a stressful one. Here are some holiday tips to help you manage the stressors you may encounter.

Self-care is imperative ~ especially around the holidays.

Take a deep breath.  Hold for count of 5.  Slowly exhale.  Did you feel stress leave your body? Repeat for 5-10 more times.

I get it - you have tons to do and very limited time.  Even so, it is so important to take care of you.

Practice saying “no”

Ask for help

Sleep! Make sure you make time for 7-8 hours per night of sleep

Eat - don’t skip meals

You will feel better and be less stressed if you take a little time to take care of you

Meal Planning now leads to a successful holiday season

Do you struggle with food?  Either eating not enough or too much? Spending the time now planning your meals can help decrease anxiety you might have

What you can put in place to help with managing the holidays

It is okay to say “no”

Make plans to connect with a support person

Have an exit plan if things get too intense

Remember all things in moderation

Family toxicity is optional

If your family is toxic, you can decide how you wish to interact with them and for how long

Moderation

Many look forward to spending the holidays with family.  Others dread it.  To help you feel your best during this
holiday season, remember moderation ~ alcohol, food, sugar, and spending.  You will feel better if you do

Count your blessings

Take a little time this week to count your blessings – your heart will be full

Remember, it is okay to take care of you.

I wish you a happy holiday week!
