Do You Allow Yourself Time To Laugh & Play?

Do you allow yourself time to play? Yes, that's correct - play. Remember as kids we had recess twice a day? Looking back, wasn't that nice? Recess not only allowed us to get some fresh air and exercise, it also allowed us to move and get a release from sitting still in the classroom.

As an adult, we still need that release, the fresh air, and movement. But, do you allow yourself the time to do so? Taking a break and going for a walk, breathing in the fresh air, moving your body, taking a break from your computer screen allows you time to regroup, recalibrate, and decompress.

Laughter also allows a release. Laughter releases dopamine in our brain which reinforces our motivation to continue the behavior we were doing. Isn't that great? Laughing can help you stay motivated and make you feel good as well. Spending time each day playing and laughing can have such positive effects on us and the work that we do.

How often are you laughing during the day? If not, why not? Do find a way to do so! I assure you, your day will be better. If so, keep doing so!

Here are some quick ways that you can add laughter and play to your day (if that seems too much all at once, then aim for weekly):

⚜️go for a walk around the block or parking lot -or- instead of walking, skip

⚜️deeply breathe in the fresh air through your nose, hold for count of 5, and exhale through your mouth - repeat 5-10 times

⚜️if you have a pet, spend time playing with them and/or watch them play - they are sure to get you laughing!

⚜️make a game out of your to do list - be creative with it

⚜️have some funny memes, gifs, videos saved that you can quickly access that will get you laughing

⚜️watch a funny show or movie

⚜️remember an inside joke you have with a friend and send them a quick reminder text about it - will sure to get you both laughing.

There is a time to be serious and there is definitely a time to play and laugh.

Enoy! 😊
