She already knew
When I was in high school my guidance counselor told me I was not college material.
He told me I would do best with a two year secretarial program instead.
I was good at typing. I excelled at shorthand. I had taken all the classes. And somewhere inside me a voice said - no! This is not it. That is not where l am going.
I did not know how.
I did not have a plan.
I just knew.
I went on to earn my doctorate in clinical psychology.
Years later I was finishing that doctorate. I had a three year old. I had no income of my own and no clear path forward. My marriage had become something I could not stay inside of - not for me, and not for my son.
And again that voice said - this is not right. You already know what you need to do.
I left.
Not because I had it figured out.
Not because I felt ready.
Not because I could see exactly how it was going to work.
Because I trusted what I already knew.
This is what I have learned about that voice.
It has always been there. In every woman I have ever worked with. In every moment that mattered.
It does not always speak loudly. It does not always arrive with certainty or a five step plan.
But it knows.
The guidance counselor did not know.
My circumstances did not know.
The fear did not know.
But I did.
And so do you.
The work I do is about teaching you to trust yourself again. Not for the first time. Again. Because you knew how once ~ before the world convinced you otherwise.
The way I talk to myself now is different than it was. More compassionate. More encouraging. More like someone who has learned to believe in herself because she has watched herself make the hard calls and survive them.
That is available to you too.
July we are talking about decisions.
Real ones. The kind that come from knowing rather than certainty.
If something in you already knows it is time ~ I would love to hear from you.
Fill out a short inquiry form and tell me where you are. I read every single one personally and respond within 48 hours Monday through Thursday.

She Rises. She Becomes.
P.S. Not ready for the full conversation yet? The workshop recording is still available at $47. A real place to start.
